I have a daughter (Rose) who is currently in Staffordshire 2 at Southborough, and a son (James) who is in Mountain class. After over ten years working in the corporate events world, I have dedicated the last few years to study and to qualifying as a Therapist. I am currently working at Mid Kent MIND as I enter the final stages of my training and am passionate about raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing and aim to specialise in supporting young people and adolescents with all aspects of their mental health.
I grew up in Southborough, even attending the school myself way back in the day, and in my spare time I enjoy being with my family and friends as much as possible, as well as playing in a local netball league. I joined the PTA halfway through my first year as a parent at the school and have recently taken over as Co-Chair for the 2024/2025 academic year. I feel passionately about creating an inclusive and vibrant school community with all the amazing families across Southborough, whilst raising lots of money for school enrichment, and having a lot of fun in the process.
I will be co-chair for the PTA this academic year, having been a Trustee for a year already. I have a child in Year 4 and really enjoy having this connection with the school. I love being involved in organising lots of fun events for the children and creating memories, whilst raising money for the school. It’s been a great experience so far. I am also a critical care nurse which is a job that keeps me very busy but I love it!
This will be my 2nd year in the role of Treasurer for the PTA. I have two boys at Southborough, one in year 2 and the other in year 5. I have always worked in Finance and currently work in Tonbridge for The Charity Bank, a wonderful company who only lends to charities and social enterprises. It has been great fun helping fundraise money for the school and put on events for all the children and Southborough families to enjoy and to be part of the school community.
I have Finn in year 5 and Cooper in year 2. I actually live in the St. Johns area but much preferred the feel and space of Southborough School so commenced the morning trek back when Finn joined in Reception. I joined the PTA just over 2 and half years ago. Mostly out of outrage at the lack prizes for the raffle one Christmas and once I was in that was it.
I work as a Head of Finance Business Partnering for a London Borough and have been in Public Sector Finance for nearly 20 years now. I see first-hand the budget pressures schools face and the impact that has on the students. I see the tough decisions that Head teachers must make.
I also see the difference a good PTA and Parent community can make to a school and in turn the children within it. My life is hectic and chaotic like my fellow PTA members, but I love knowing that what we do has a real impact on the kids and provides the school with opportunities it wouldn’t otherwise have. The ladies that I am working alongside in the PTA are amazing, we have a good laugh, lots of gin and prosecco and fun along the way, and my kids love me being in the PTA.
We couldn’t do what we do without the army of volunteers that are crucial so a big thank you to them. If you are thinking of getting involved, please do, it really does mean a lot to the whole Southborough CoE community.
I’m Kimbo, mum to Scarlett in year 1. I love being part of the school community at Southborough having worked with children my whole life. I’ve been helping children with their learning for over 10 years, specialising in anxious children and those with additional needs, offering kind, relaxed and nurturing support.
Before I had my daughter I worked as a drama teacher for several local dancing schools and spent many years pursuing acting work. I worked predominantly in the theatre but with a little bit of television work now and then.I am also a writer with a published play under my belt and I run dozy dollop productions which has produced successful plays both locally and in London.
I love being part of Southborough PTA, getting involved in as much of Scarlett’s school life as I can, and being able to give the children and school as many opportunities as we can.
Hi I'm Alex. I've got son currently in year two and two other children who will follow him to our lovely school in 2025 and 2027. When I'm not being a mum, I'm a family lawyer. We also have two dogs, so life is very busy in our house! I'm looking forward to working with the other Trustees to continue to raise money for the school and give all the children opportunities to enjoy events.
